The short answer

Choose one main experience for each day, group outings by departure coast, and leave room for time on land. A shorter submarine excursion and a full-day cruise offer very different ways to explore.

Start with the shape of your holiday

Before choosing individual attractions, decide how much of your holiday you want to spend on organised outings. A useful starting point is one day on the water, one day exploring heritage and some unscheduled time. This is a planning suggestion, not a fixed tour package.

Write down your hotel area, the dates you can travel and the people joining you. Then compare the actual departure point and total excursion duration. An appealing photograph does not tell you how the experience fits around transfers, meals or your other plans.

Choose your view of the sea

The Blue Safari catalogue describes the submarine excursion from Trou aux Biches as a two-hour experience including a 40-minute dive. It is a different commitment from the Northern Islands catamaran cruise departing Grand Baie, listed at seven hours and fifteen minutes.

For another departure area, the South East full-day catamaran leaves from Pointe des Régates in Mahébourg. Read each itinerary before choosing: a destination name, a boat photograph and the place where you board are not interchangeable.

Make room for Mauritius on land

Aapravasi Ghat in Port Louis is a UNESCO World Heritage property associated with the history of indentured labour. It offers a meaningful historical dimension to a holiday built around the coast. Consult its official visitor information before planning a visit; this guide does not establish current opening times or access arrangements.

You do not need to fill every free hour. Leave space between major outings for a meal, a walk or time at your accommodation. Avoid attaching a timed booking immediately after a boat excursion without checking the return and transfer arrangements.

Turn a shortlist into a workable plan

Compare the meeting point, total duration, inclusions and participation requirements on each activity page. For a group, agree the type of experience first, then check the date and the total price for everyone travelling.

Start with the experiences below, then use the activity details to ask specific questions. Current availability and the final booking confirmation take precedence over an illustrative holiday plan.
